Cognitive behavioural therapist

About the role...

Cognitive behavioural therapists (CBT) specialise in providing cognitive behavioural therapy to children and young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties.  It is like a form of talking therapy that can help children and young people to manage problems by changing the way they think and behave. It tends to be used to treat anxiety and depression.




What qualifications do I need?

CBT therapists can hold a psychology degree however they will need to progress into a core profession or will have undertaken academic and clinical qualifications as appropriate for that profession. They need to undertake further specialist training in CBT.

What experience do I need to bring?

CBT therapists will have experience in using CBT techniques to support children and young people as part of their professional career.
