Newly qualified nurse
About the role...
This is a role that is client facing, working alongside young people and their families, as well as other key agencies which may be involved with the young person. You are likely to be involved in initial assessments to identify a young person’s strengths and difficulties and presenting needs, and in partnership design a care plan with signposting and or / evidence- based interventions. The role is variable, requires problem solving, clear thinking and excellent communication skills. You are supported in your role by senior staff skilled in a wide variety of interventions and leadership.
This role is a platform for starting a career in CAMHS which opens doors to a variety of learning and development opportunities.
As a newly qualified nurse you will access a preceptorship programme, and supervision and line management, you may go on to supervise HCSW and mentor students from a variety of backgrounds such as nursing and social work.
What qualifications do I need?
• Registered Nurse NMC (Band 5)
• Undergraduate degree - BSc Nursing Studies or equivalent
• Newly Qualified
• Return to Nursing
What experience do I need to bring?
These roles are for newly qualified nurses from a range of specialities including: Mental Health, Paediatrics, Learning Disabilities, Dual Qualification (MH and Paeds) and Adult Branch.
This may be your first role post qualifying or you may be changing between nursing speciality for example from Paediatrics to CAMHS.
No specific experience is necessary, although some may have mentorship qualification and prescribing as part of their training. A willingness to upskill in areas specific to CAMHS such as risk assessment and management, therapeutic interventions such as CBT / DBT, family (systemic) work and multidisciplinary engagement is necessary going forward
