Roles in CAMHS

Crisis team

About the team...

This is an area of work that suits clinicians who enjoy intense, more short- term interventions with children and young people (CYP) and their families often when they are in an acute episode of deteriorating mental health with increased risk. This could include CYP presenting with Eating disorders, OCD, high levels of suicidality / self -harm, Psychosis. The aim of these area of work is to reduce risk, promote strategies and interventions to enable the CYP to manage their mental health at times of acute distress or pre or post a hospital admission. Often these interventions start within the home but may progress to clinic or community settings. Clinicians are often trained in DBT and have expert skills in risk management.
