Neurodevelopmental team

About the team...

Clinicians working within the field of Neurodevelopmental gain additional skills in the recognition, assessment and management of children / young people with complex presentations which may or may not meet diagnostic criteria for Autism and ADHD.

ADHD – able to diagnose, formulate consider alternative explanations for strengths and difficulties. Work as part of multi – disciplinary team, engaging key stakeholders such as schools and parents / carers. They are likely to be qualified to post graduate level with a Non -Medical Prescriber qualification. They are often trained in Developmental History Taking, QB test administration and interpretation, use of tools such as Conners, ADI-R and ADOS trained.

They will support building community capacity by providing education to local communities, upskill CAMHS staff support pathway development and innovation. They will be trained in current evidence based interventions to support ADHD, such as New Forest Parenting Programme, ADHD Factor, Signet programme and are able to make adaptations to work with children, young people and their families with neurodiversity to promote inclusivity and engagement with assessment and treatment as appropriate. As lead nurses they will support development of the nursing profession, contribute to service transformation, governance and training of the CAMHS workforce.
